The participants of the first international conference “Sustainable urban development” discussed how to develop urban spaces and “green” technologies. The world's scientists, experts together with representatives of business and authorities, specially invited guests, Nobel peace prize laureate RAE Kwon Chung and Jean Jouzel made presentations on energy conservation and smart cities.
"Of course, today it is difficult to realize a large number of environmental projects. "Green office” is very expensive, but public consciousness is already moving in the direction of such changes, – says Deputy first Vice-rector of Urfu Hope, Terlyga, – The University here is the driver of development, as we have new technologies. With their help, "green" projects can really bring to life."
There is necessary to change the thinking, says Nobel laureate, chief Advisor on climate change UN Secretary-General ban Ki-moon RAE Kwon Chung, that make Yekaterinburg "smart" and to introduce "green" technology. For this you need to focus on improving environmental performance, improve social activity of citizens and the economic viability of the city.
Ural Federal University is moving in this direction and now it’s able to offer the city and region very effective solutions to many problems, as well as contribute to the development of a competent strategy.
"Now Yekaterinburg and the Ural Federal University are creating their development strategies, and it's time to consider long-term goals and objectives of each other", – considers the first Vice-rector of the Ural Federal University Sergey Courts. – The University already takes first steps. In collaboration with the regional
cancer center and company Pet Technology can provide the Yekaterinburg and Sverdlovsk region, all high-level services for nuclear medicine. This is only a small part of what the University is doing today, and a tiny part of what the University is willing to do."

The exhibition brought together 25 speakers from five countries and more than 500 listeners.
